Research, Heritage, and Knowledge Transfer Classroom

research, heritage, and knowledge transfer classroom
The Classroom of Research, Heritage, and Knowledge Transfer (AIPT) has as its main objective to value, research, and disseminate the musical heritage of the province of Alicante, as well as to open lines of research in areas such as music pedagogy among other related subjects.
This classroom is established within the structure of the Óscar Esplá Higher Conservatory of Music and aims to be a reference point for teachers and students, an agora that fosters synergies and provides tools for the development of projects related to music both at a theoretical and practical level, as well as for the transfer of knowledge to society.
The classroom encourages the creation of multidisciplinary teams in the fields of musicology, pedagogy, music history, music publishing, and information technology experts, among other areas.
Given the eminently practical nature of the teachings provided at the conservatory, this classroom places special emphasis on providing performers with tools to achieve quality interpretations, historically informed, and that highlight the unknown Alicante heritage preserved in archives and libraries.
Objectives
- Promote musical research through the creation of working groups on various topics, primarily focusing on Alicante’s musical heritage and music education.
- To be a bridge of connection with different national and international scientific institutions, preferably universities, but also other relevant organizations.
- Knowledge transfer through publications, conferences, concerts, workshops, seminars, congresses, and other various activities.
Work areas
Musical Heritage
Research and enhancement of Alicante’s musical heritage, currently almost unknown, preserved both in the historical archives of various institutions and in the private libraries of musicians or their heirs.
The main objective of this project will be the enhancement of musical heritage through:
-
- Catalog creation: Development of a comprehensive catalog of the researched musical works, accessible to musicians and researchers worldwide.
- Digitization of collections: Creation of an accessible digital archive containing digitized historical documents and scores, facilitating their preservation and study.
- Interpretation of the recovered sheet music.
- Comprehensive study of the sources.
- Repertoire recording: use of CSMA’s audiovisual resources.
Recovery, interpretation, and promotion of composers from Alicante
In the province, there are composers from the 19th and 20th centuries who deserve to be rescued from oblivion. In the best cases, these materials are kept in public archives and libraries; in other cases, they are in the hands of private individuals who often do not realize the value of the documents they possess, posing a clear risk of irreparable loss. In both situations, the lack of knowledge about this part of our musical history is evident, a situation that we aim to address as much as possible.
In addition to figures of composers, there are also musical societies and various important historical institutions that will also be studied.
-
- Study of sources.
- Preparation of biographies.
- Music score editing.
- Performance.
- Recording.
Music pedagogy
Implementation of innovative pedagogical research lines.
Knowledge transfer
The Classroom of Research and Musical Heritage (AIPT) will disseminate the results of its research and activities through various academic and artistic media and formats. Among its main dissemination strategies are: the publication of the outreach magazine Eco Musical; the creation of a specialized scientific journal; the organization of concerts, lectures, and other public activities aimed at the dissemination of musical knowledge; as well as the publication of various monographic publications dedicated to composers, heritage catalogs, proceedings books, and other works of relevance to the academic and cultural community.
