introduction

Musical research within higher conservatories of music must begin to occupy a prominent place. It not only constitutes an essential pillar for the advancement of knowledge in the artistic and academic fields but is also fundamental for providing comprehensive training to students. Encouraging investigative curiosity, critical thinking, and reflection on musical practice enriches both the educational process and the professional development of future musicians.

In this regard, the musical research at the Óscar Esplá Higher Conservatory of Music in Alicante (CSMA) encompasses a wide range of approaches and disciplines: from classical musicology to performative studies, as well as music pedagogy and new technologies applied to creation and performance. This diversity allows music to be approached from complementary perspectives, integrating theory, practice, and experimentation.

Likewise, the CSMA maintains a clear commitment to openness and collaboration with other scientific entities, such as universities, research centers, and national and international conservatories. These synergies promote the exchange of knowledge, participation in joint projects, and the consolidation of networks that drive musical research as a fundamental axis of artistic and educational development.

Finally, knowledge transfer is essential, allowing the CSMA to integrate into society and actively contribute to the cultural, educational, and scientific fabric. Research must transcend the institution’s walls to generate impact, foster innovation, and strengthen the connection between musical creation and the community.
