The research groups at CSMA carry out their work around broad and flexible research lines that allow for various methodological and creative approaches. Among them:

  1. Musical creation and interpretation: performative research, interpretative practice, repertoires, studies on technique and artistic expression.
  2. Composition and new technologies: research on electroacoustic creation, experimental music, artificial intelligence applied to composition and sound art.
  3. Musicology and musical analysis: historical, analytical, aesthetic, and sociological studies of music.
  4. Music pedagogy and educational innovation: active methodologies, creativity applied to teaching, instrumental didactics, and educational management.
  5. Culture, heritage, and sound identity: research on Valencian and Spanish musical heritage, ethnomusicology, archiving, and sound preservation.
  6. Interdisciplinarity and performing arts: music and other arts (dance, theater, audiovisual), performative studies, and new sound dramaturgies.
  7. Technology and sound science: musical acoustics, spectral analysis, psychoacoustics, and interactive technologies for artistic creation.
